How GEOrank works, step by step
No black box. Here's what we do, in order, and what you'll see at each step.
1. Baseline (first weeks)
We start by agreeing on the questions that bring you business. A roofer's list looks nothing like a CPA's, so we build yours from real customer language: calls, emails, reviews, and the search terms in your Search Console.
Then we run every question through each AI engine several times and log the results. This is your baseline: how often you're named today, who's named instead, and which sources the engines lean on. Everything later gets compared to this.
2. Fix (weeks 2 to 6)
Most businesses have a few basic problems that quietly hurt them: a firewall blocking crawlers, a directory listing with an old phone number, service pages that never say which towns you serve, structured data that doesn't match the page. These are usually the quickest wins, so they come first.
We either make the changes ourselves or hand your developer a precise list. Either way, you'll know exactly what changed.
3. Publish (ongoing)
Next comes content that engines can quote. That means pages that answer a specific question in the first couple of sentences, then back it up with details a reader can check. We also work on the outside sources the audit flagged: the associations, local publications and review sites that the engines cite for your topic.
You approve everything before it's published. Nothing goes out under your name that you haven't read.
4. Measure (monthly)
Each month we re-run the same question set and compare against the baseline. You get a short report: appearance rate, citation rate, any wrong facts we found, AI referral traffic from GA4, and what we're doing next. If something isn't working, we say so and change the plan.
What we need from you
- A kickoff call and a short review call each month
- Quick answers on facts only you know (licenses, service areas, process)
- Approval on content before it goes live
- Access to your site, or an introduction to whoever manages it
Process FAQ
Will this hurt my regular Google rankings?
No. The work we do (clear pages, correct structured data, consistent listings, earned mentions) is the same kind of work that helps normal search. Google says pages need to be indexed and eligible for a snippet in Search to appear in its AI features, with no extra special optimization required.
Can I stop after the audit?
Yes. The audit stands on its own and the fix list is written so you or your developer can act on it.
How do you measure something that changes every time?
We ask each question several times per engine on a fixed schedule and report the share of answers that name you. Over a few months, that rate tells you far more than any single answer.
